Best Chili Recipe

I know it’s not Fall yet, but I really have been craving chili.  We have a great family recipe.  What I love about this recipe, is that you can eat it as is in a bowl or eat it over spaghetti noodles.  That would be Cincinnati Stye.   Add onions and cheese on top of the chili.  Yum!  Tonight we ate it with corn bread.  I really love Krusteaz cornbread.  I’m not sure how old this recipe is, but I remember eating it as a kid.

  

Best Chili Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 med. onion, chopped
  • 2 cans hot chili beans
  • 1 (8oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 cans petite tomatoes, diced
  • 1 T. vinegar
  • 1 T. worcestershire sauce
  • 1 T. chili powder
  • 1 t. cumin
  • 1/2 t. cinnamon
  • minced garlic to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef and drain. Add in onions and cook until translucent. Add remaining ingredients and let simmer for a few hours. This can be served as is or can be served Cincinnati Style.
  2. Cincinnati Style: Serve over spaghetti noodles and top with cheddar cheese, fresh onions and green peppers.

Oh my goodness, this is so good.  You don’t have to actually eat chili only in the Fall or Winter, it’s just usually a really good comfort food when you are cold.  Last year, my husband and I went to Ohio for a football game and we had the chance to eat at Skyline Chili.  It was really good.  It was loaded with cheese and onions.  This recipe is so simple and quick to put together.  I love the smell of it as it simmers on the stove for several hours.  If by chance there are any leftovers, I love to eat the next day.  All the flavors meld well together.
