Patriotic Mason Jar Lanterns DIY

If you’re like me, you probably have a ton of mason jars laying around waiting to be used.  I am always trying to come up with different, unique ways to use the mason jars.  My daughter and I were at Target the other day and we came across these packs of flags that were the perfect size for my mason jars.  We found them in the dollar section of Target.  I got a pack of 3 for $1.00.  We love to get together for holidays, especially for the Fourth of July.  We usually get together at our house because it will accommodate everyone.  We have a great patio that is awesome for entertaining.  I decided to make Patriotic mason jar lanterns that we could use for the Fourth of July and many other family gatherings.  This was such a simple project and took no time at all to put together.  If you’re looking for other patriotic diys check out my other posts here and here.

Items needed:

Packs of miniature flags
Mason jars
Mod Podge Waterbase Sealer, Glue and Finish (8-Ounce), CS11301 Matte Finish
Tea light candles or electric tea light candles
Sponge brush

Patriotic Mason Jar Lanterns

  1. Pull flag apart from dowel.  It’s attached by 2 small staples.  Save dowels for another project.

2.  Brush mod podge on the inside of the flag, covering flag completely.

3.  Lay flag evenly on mason jar and smooth out.  Let dry completely.

4.  Brush mod podge on top of flag to seal the flag onto the mason jar.  Let dry.

As I was working on my project I looked down and there was my dog, Raquel.  She is never far from my side.

Look how cute they turned out!  I’m so excited to use them on the Fourth of July!

How do you celebrate for the Fourth of July or for other patriotic holidays?  Do you have any family traditions that you’ve carried into your family?  By the way, today is Flag Day! Happy Flag Day everyone!  What a great time to remember all those who serve and have served for our freedom! The flag represents our freedom in this great place we live.

I’m not great at intricate diys, so I am all about simple and easy.
